The Raritan Rockets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 50-0 loss at the hands of Point Pleasant Boro. While losing is never fun, Raritan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Point Pleasant Boro is ranked 20th).
Matt Oliphant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Point Pleasant Boro, rushing for 171 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Oliphant is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Clayton, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Raritan has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Point Pleasant Boro, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raritan will challenge Haddonfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Haddonfield's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Raritan has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Point Pleasant Boro, they will square off against Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
