If the Catholic Central Crusaders were riding high off their 53-28 takedown of the Malvern Hornets last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Catholic Central took a serious blow against Oak Glen on Wednesday, falling 74-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Catholic Central has suffered yet this season.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella Maragos, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Maragos has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Anna Arai was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Oak Glen, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will play host again and welcome Madonna, where tip off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Madonna presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Catholic Central in their respective states (Madonna is ranked 104th in West Virginia, while Catholic Central is ranked 390th in Ohio). As for Oak Glen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brooke at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Brooke is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
