Millard will square off against Duchesne at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Millard: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Duchesne has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Millard's offense. They lost 6-0 to Enterprise on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Millard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Stephenson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Duchesne won against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on Friday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Eagles' way against North Sevier as they made off with a 20-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kira Grant made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Prezley Farnsworth was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Madi Larsen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Duchesne hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Duchesne's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Millard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millard might still be hurting after the 17-7 loss they got from Duchesne in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can Millard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
