The McDonough Rams entered their tilt with the Patuxent Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. McDonough came out on top against Patuxent by a score of 38-25 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for McDonough, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
McDonough was led to victory by Cailyn Samuel and Lexi Garrison. Samuel scored 13 points along with six steals, while Garrison scored 12 points along with seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Samuel has scored at least a third of McDonough's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emonee Rhynes, who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Patuxent's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ailish Fockler, who scored five points along with 16 rebounds and two steals, and Ryleigh Haggerty who scored a point. Fockler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
McDonough has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Patuxent, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
McDonough will head out on the road to face off against Westlake at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Patuxent, they will be playing at home against Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntingtown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Patuxent in Maryland (Huntingtown is ranked 116th, while Patuxent is ranked 249th).
