Basketball Game Preview: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Robert C. Byrd Eagles

The Doddridge County Bulldogs will challenge the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Doddridge County will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Doddridge County is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Clay County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Doddridge County blew Clay County out of the water with a 69-39 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Doddridge County's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Solomon, who went 6 for 9 en route to 12 points and six rebounds. What's more, Solomon also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jerod Trent, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Doddridge County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Robert C. Byrd). They breezed by Keyser to the tune of 80-52 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Doddridge County pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Robert C. Byrd, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
