The Bethel Jaguars entered their tilt with the El Cerrito Gauchos with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Bethel snuck past the Gauchos with a 50-45 win on Thursday. Given Bethel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Gauchos are ranked 803rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bethel was led to victory by D. Brown and H. Howard. Brown scored eight points along with five assists and three steals, while Howard scored 12 points along with two steals. A. Garcia was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Bethel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for El Cerrito, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
Bethel's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Redhawks at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Vallejo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Jaguars like a good challenge. El Cerrito does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
