The Kellis Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Paradise Valley 62-41. The win was familiar territory for Kellis who now have six in a row.
Kellis found their leader in underclassman Shanielle Mallory, who scored 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mallory has scored at least 25% of Kellis' points. Mia Wolfe was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Despite the loss, Paradise Valley still got an impressive performance from Emilee Resendez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Resendez scored a full 39% of Paradise Valley's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Neha Patel, who scored 12 points.
Kellis' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Paradise Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kellis will face off against Ironwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Kellis is ranked 65th). As for Paradise Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Casa Grande is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
