The Brashear Tigers lost against the Green City Gophers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Brashear was dealt a 86-46 defeat at the hands of the Gophers. Brashear was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-24.
Leading Green City to victory were Xander Salas and Asher Buggs-Tipton. Salas scored 25 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Buggs-Tipton scored 30 points along with five steals. Buggs-Tipton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times he's played. Kaden Hatcher was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Brashear's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Green City, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brashear will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Scotland County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Green City, they will play host again and welcome the Midgets, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Putnam County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
