Minatare is 2-8 against Bayard since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Minatare Indians will be staying on the road to face off against the Bayard Tigers on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minatare is ranked 257th, while Bayard is ranked 258th).
Minatare suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Leyton on the road and fell 57-21. Minatare was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Meanwhile, Bayard had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Banner County on Saturday and snuck past 41-39. The win was just what Bayard needed coming off of a 67-41 loss in their prior match.
Minatare has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Bayard, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Minatare was taken down by Bayard 65-23 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Minatare, Trenton Marquez (who scored 21 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
