In what's become a running theme this season, the Escambia County Blue Devils gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat T.R. Miller 63-33 at home. Given Escambia County's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while T.R. Miller is ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Escambia County found their leader in underclassman Cleo Bolar jr., who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Bolar jr. pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Stephen Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
T.R. Miller's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayki Askew, who scored seven points. Henry Kirkland was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Escambia County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for T.R. Miller, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Escambia County will head out on the road to face off against Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jackson will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. As for T.R. Miller, T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. W.S. Neal is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
