The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Octorara Area Braves on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Braves 61-56. While losing is never fun, Lampeter-Strasburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Octorara Area is ranked 106th).
Lampeter-Strasburg lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chase Smucker, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Glick, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lampeter-Strasburg has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Octorara Area, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Lampeter-Strasburg will head out on the road to take on Northern Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Octorara Area, they will be playing at home against Lancaster Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
