This season hasn't been kind to The Douglas Byrd Eagles, who are still winless after their tenth match. They were outmatched by Seventy-First at home and fell 48-0. Douglas Byrd has struggled against Seventy-First recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seventy-First to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deandre Nance, who threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jayson Franklin, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Douglas Byrd's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 South View (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64% over those games). As for Seventy-First, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Douglas Byrd does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Seventy-First will be playing at home against Triton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Triton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Seventy-First is ranked 13th).
