Manteo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Manteo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Manteo got the win against Columbia by a conclusive 59-37.
Manteo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydney Ballance out in front who scored 9 points. CeCe Lowe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cape Hatteras entered their tilt with Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cape Hatteras took their game at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-15 victory over Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech. Given Cape Hatteras' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cape Hatteras to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylie Philips, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Bryan, who scored 8 points along with 5 assists.
The losses dropped Manteo to 2-1 and Columbia to 0-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Manteo have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Cape Hatteras, though, as they've been averaging only 3 per game. Given Manteo's sizeable advantage in that area, Cape Hatteras will need to find a way to close that gap.
