The Willow Canyon Wildcats's game on Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 63-54 victory over Apollo. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Willow Canyon also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Willow Canyon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Launa Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Rogers is crushing the block category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kandace O Connell, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Willow Canyon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-7. As for Apollo, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow Canyon and the Trojans will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Paradise Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Thursday. As for Apollo, they will be playing at home against the Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
