The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves were the 55-46 winner over the Stanley County Buffalos when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stanley County on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (55), Cheyenne-Eagle Butte still had to take the loss.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Easton Lawrence, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Elk nation, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for Stanley County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will square off against Mobridge-Pollock at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stanley County, they will head out on the road to challenge Todd County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Todd County is ranked 123rd, while Stanley County is ranked 99th).
