Xenia has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Sidney Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Xenia didn't have too much trouble with Fairborn at home as they won 42-28. Given Xenia's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Fairborn is ranked 739th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Xenia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayler Elliott out in front who scored 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alaiya Meaux, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Sidney entered their tilt with Troy with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Sidney came out on top against Troy by a score of 40-29 on Saturday.
Xenia's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Sidney, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Xenia was dealt a bruising 54-24 loss at the hands of Sidney in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Xenia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
