Viera is a perfect 9-0 against Bayside since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Viera's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Bayside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Viera's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Melbourne Central Catholic by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly four runs.
Viera let Max Leoni and Trey Slavik run wild. Leoni went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Slavik went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Viera hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melbourne Central Catholic struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Bayside was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Melbourne.
Bayside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Ramroop, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Ramroop's first of the season.
Viera pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bayside, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Viera's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Hawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bayside, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Viera continue to outrun the ball?
Viera got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Bayside by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
