Despite a strong season so far, The Midland Bulldogs have seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Permian on Friday. Midland has struggled against Permian recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Midland still got an impressive performance from Stroman Bridges, who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 138 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes.
It was another big night for Juzstyce Lara, who rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Lara was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.
Midland's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Permian, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4.
Midland will square off against Americas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Americas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Midland is ranked 62nd). As for Permian, they will square off against Pebble Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pebble Hills is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
