The Laurel Highlands Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 17th straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Uniontown, falling 85-44. While losing is never fun, Laurel Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Uniontown is ranked 30th).
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Koffler, who scored eight points. Brennen Varney was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Uniontown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamire Braxton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. Braxton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Grooms, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five steals.
Laurel Highlands' defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Uniontown, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Laurel Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Uniontown also has no future games currently scheduled.
