Even though the Grayson County Blue Devils have not done well against the Fort Chiswell Pioneers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Grayson County claimed a resounding 66-28 victory over Fort Chiswell at home. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for Grayson County this season.
Leading Grayson County to victory were Maverik Goad and Mac Goad. Goad scored 15 points along with two steals, while Goad scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Goad scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Gillespie, who scored six points along with six assists and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Grayson County and bumps their season record up to 8-12. As for Fort Chiswell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Grayson County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bland County at 8:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Grayson County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. Fort Chiswell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
