Ralston Valley is 0-6 against Cherry Creek since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Ralston Valley Mustangs will face off against the Cherry Creek Bruins at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ralston Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Pine Creek on Friday as Ralston Valley made off with a 28-3 victory. The win was nothing new for Ralston Valley as they're now sitting on five straight.
Ralston Valley can attribute much of their success to Brady Weldon, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Madden, who threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Cherry Creek put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 51-24 victory over Mountain Vista. With Cherry Creek ahead 31-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
It was another big night for Jordan Herron, who rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Tyson Mauck, who picked up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The last time Ralston Valley lost on the road was back back in August. Having now won four straight away contests, they've pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. As for Cherry Creek, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Ralston Valley suffered a grim 35-9 defeat to Cherry Creek when the teams last played back in August. Can Ralston Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
