The Payson Lions will challenge the Provo Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Payson is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Payson came out on top against Juab on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Lions walked away with a 7-4 win over the Wasps.
Brigzen Houser made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Provo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Timpanogos 8-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dawson Moore was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Provo is undefeated when Moore posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Austin Allred, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Provo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Provo's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Payson, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Payson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Provo struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Payson came up short against Provo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
