Even though the Caverna Colonels have not done well against the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Caverna walked away with an 83-71 win over Bethlehem. Given Caverna's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Bethlehem is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caverna got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyson Martin out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Martin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Craine, who scored 25 points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Caverna pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.7 points per game. As for Bethlehem, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Caverna is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Fort Knox at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Fort Knox is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Bethlehem, they will be playing at home against Breckinridge County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Breckinridge County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
