Basketball Recap: Neptune Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Neptune, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 66-55 victory over the Shore Regional Blue Devils on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Scarlet Fliers: when they faced off against the Blue Devils back in December of 2024, they had to take a 57-54 defeat.

Neptune's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bre Evans led the charge by going 8-for-9 to rack up 23 points and five steals. Neptune is 5-2 when Evans posts 15 or more points, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Majiah Quarles, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Neptune smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shore Regional only six offensive boards.

Shore Regional's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Coyle, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Those five assists gave Coyle a new career-high. Kimi Sayson was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

Neptune pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Shore Regional, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Neptune will look to defend their home court on Monday against Marlboro at 4:00 p.m. As for Shore Regional, they will take on Highland Park on Wednesday. One thing working in Shore Regional's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
