After a string of 18 wins, Tullahoma's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Central Magnet by a score of 2-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wildcats haven't been shut out since back in March.
Baylan Tuten was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Tuten wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xander Pogue, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Tullahoma's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 18-7. As for Central Magnet, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
