On Monday, the Berlin Redcoats's game was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 47-40 victory over Southington. That's another feather in the cap for Berlin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Berlin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Ellison, who scored 15 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Brooke Walker, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Southington still got an impressive performance from Lily Cooper, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Cooper hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Doherty, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Southington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berlin only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Berlin's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Southington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.
Berlin will be playing in front of their home fans against North Branford at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southington, they will head out on the road to challenge South Windsor at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
