The biggest upset of the week belonged to Reeltown, who took down 183rd ranked Isabella, 19-0.
Lanett extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 5 this week by beating Prattville Christian Academy, 53-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Panthers.
Montgomery Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Josh Thomas contributed 188 yards.
Thomas was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles defeated LaFayette. He completed 2 passes for 9 yards and also ran for 188 yards.
Sam McLain was a key player and the best on defense this week as Montgomery Academy beat the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed 1 interception, forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Thomas was the most successful running back in the league this week. Justin Woolfolk also contributed to the rushing game with 185 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Anthony McCall's team's Thomas and Sam LaPlatney have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Thomas has thrown for 910 yards this season, while LaPlatney has 15 catches for 443 yards. Marlon Bridges Jr. from Lanett leads the league in rushing with 1,115 yards.
The Eagles' offense has scored 272 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Mustangs have allowed only 110 on the year.
An important game coming up in 2A Region 5 this week will be when Isabella takes on Montgomery Academy. The Mustangs are currently in third, while the Eagles are in second.
Randolph County was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in the league. The Tigers vanquished Horseshoe Bend 38-0 earlier in the week.
