Wheeler is 1-8 against Hebron since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wheeler Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Hebron Hawks at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wheeler has struggled recently with 12 losses in a row, while Hebron will arrive with 12 straight wins.
Wheeler struggled with assists on Saturday (New Prairie had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wheeler had to suffer through a rough 71-26 loss at the hands of New Prairie. Wheeler was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-18.
Despite their defeat, Wheeler saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brady Rife, who scored eight points, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Hebron can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They blew past North White, posting a 71-23 victory at home. Given Hebron's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while North White is ranked 441st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wheeler's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Hebron, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
Wheeler and Hebron were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but Wheeler came up empty-handed after a 44-43 loss. Can Wheeler avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
