Volleyball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

If Lamar was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Atlas Preparatory School last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thunder came up short against the Pueblo County Hornets on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Thunder's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Lamar was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-13, 25-9.

Lisette Frias paced Lamar's offense, picking up six kills. Frias got some help from Abygail Gonzales and her 14 assists. Finally, Gonzales was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Cylie Leonard was a one-woman wrecking crew For Pueblo County. as she had 16 digs and five aces. Leonard has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. Paige Forner also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Lamar suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 15-8. As for Pueblo County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5.

As of now, neither Lamar nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
