Evangel Christian Academy has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Huntington Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangel Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Huntington will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Evangel Christian Academy never let their opponents score. They claimed a resounding 56-0 win over Minden at home. The result was nothing new for Evangel Christian Academy, who have now won three matchups by 49 points or more so far this season.
Evangel Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Fulghum out in front who threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Tyreek Robinson, who gained 163 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Huntington unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 50-24 loss at the hands of North DeSoto. While losing is never fun, Huntington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while North DeSoto is ranked 23rd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jamarion Washington, who gained 66 total yards and a touchdown. Nyles Hullaby was in the mix too, providing Huntington with two touchdowns.
Evangel Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Huntington, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.
Evangel Christian Academy beat Huntington 21-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Huntington's John Solomon, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
