Despite the defeat, Hun saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayla Williams dropped a double-double with 29 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Tresler, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oak City Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Tournament Opponent by a score of 51-40 on Saturday.
Hun better keep an eye on Dareka Goodwin. She was instrumental in Oak City Prep's win, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Goodwin is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Zoey Longsworth was another key player, putting up 15 points.
Oak City Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.
Oak City Prep's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hun, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
