The Lincoln Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Mission Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln has three straight wins, Mission has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lincoln gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They managed a 15-10 win over Balboa.
Jamelle Newman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Newman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, Mission was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 31-26 to Washington.
Lincoln now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mission, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Mission in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
