The Quilcene Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 45-18 defeat at the hands of Rainier Christian. Quilcene lost against Rainier Christian in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 16-13 score last time.
Rainier Christian found their leader in underclassman Nola Russell, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luci Ramey, who scored ten points.
Quilcene bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Rainier Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quilcene will challenge Crescent at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Crescent has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Rainier Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Muckleshoot Tribal at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Muckleshoot Tribal's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Rainier Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Rainier Christian.
