The Langley Saxons waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past George C. Marshall with points to spare, taking the game 36-17. Given Langley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while George C. Marshall is ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Langley can attribute much of their success to Peyton Daley, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Shamloo, who scored four points along with seven steals.
Langley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for George C. Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Langley and Wakefield will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wakefield is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for George C. Marshall, they will head out on the road to square off against McLean at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
