Carmel had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Northtown Pumas on Thursday as they made off with a 24-1 win. The Corsairs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Bella Cameron made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Grace Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Jenae Tompkins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory (which was Carmel's third in a row) raised their record to 18-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Northtown, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.
Carmel has already played their next matchup, an 11-3 victory against Amundsen on the 30th. Northtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
