Northfield is 9-1 against Maconaquah since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Northfield Norsemen will look to defend their home court against the Maconaquah Braves at 7:45 p.m. Northfield is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Monday, Northfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Peru, taking the game 49-39.
Northfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eden Hoover led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Baker, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Rochester. Maconaquah found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 26% worse than the opposition.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Miranda Stoll, who scored 20 points. Bailey Carson was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
The losses dropped Northfield to 1-6 and Peru to 0-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Northfield have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Maconaquah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Northfield beat Maconaquah 54-44 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Northfield repeat their success, or does Maconaquah have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
