The Indiana Christian Academy Whirlwinds pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-56 to Community Baptist Christian. Indiana Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Community Baptist Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Indiana Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sawyer Tipton, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Tipton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Seth Plew was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Community Baptist Christian had a senior duo take command as Jay Clifton scored 31 points and Layne Cook scored 26 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clifton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daviea Jones, who scored two points along with 13 rebounds.
Indiana Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Community Baptist Christian, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.
Indiana Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northpoint HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Community Baptist Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Portage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Portage Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
