Ashton (Ace) Meeks was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-14 on his way to 25 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 46.2% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Jeffers, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
DeMatha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Sidwell Friends earned a 46-34 win over Marist on Saturday.
Sidwell Friends found their leader in sophomore Jadah Washington, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Washington has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Condon, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.
Sidwell Friends' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for DeMatha, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: DeMatha has been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 36.5% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Sidwell Friends, though, as they've only made 23.8% of their three-pointers this season. Given DeMatha's sizable advantage in that area, the Quakers will need to find a way to close that gap.
DeMatha couldn't quite get it done against Sidwell Friends in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 48-41. Will the Stags have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
