Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Silver Foxes will look to defend their home field against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.3 runs per game this season.
Jefferson came up short against Burges on Thursday, falling 12-3.
Jefferson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yazmeen De La Paz, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Elizabella Quinonez was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Chapin waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Khloe Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Chapin got a massive performance out of Alyssa Pena, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Pena has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jaedyne Armendariz, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Chapin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 17 consecutive matchups.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4-1. As for Chapin, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.
Jefferson's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Silver Foxes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chapin, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jefferson continue to outrun the ball?
