Not much got past Carly Kearns, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Canyon off the board. Kearns has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aubrie Jensen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Blair Rune, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Valencia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Golden Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Saugus, falling 14-1.
Rohan Elhamamsy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Golden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Valencia, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Golden Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Valencia has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Golden Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Valencia keep running through batters, or will the Grizzlies buck the trend?
