The Timpanogos Timberwolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 71-57 bruising from Payson. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Timpanogos lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Steven LaPray, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaxen Mccuistion, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Leading Payson to victory were Joseph Wolfe and Kamika Wesley. Wolfe scored 17 points along with three steals, while Wesley scored 25 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Reynoso, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Timpanogos has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Payson, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timpanogos will square off against the Utes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Uintah is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Payson, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
