Beardstown and Camp Point Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Beardstown took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Pittsfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers never let the Saukees get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The result came thanks to Khloe Kearns's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Beardstown's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Camp Point Central came out on top against Rushville-Industry on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Panthers blew past the Rockets 12-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
Emma Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karly Peters, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
Camp Point Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Beardstown, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Beardstown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Camp Point Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
