While the Hillsboro Hiltoppers couldn't quite beat the Nokomis Redskins on Saturday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Hillsboro fell just short of Nokomis by a score of 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Hillsboro still got an impressive performance from Nathan Matoush, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Lowe, who scored ten points.
Hillsboro has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Nokomis, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will take on Staunton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nokomis, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pawnee at 7:15 p.m. Pawnee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
