Even though The Long County Blue Tide have not done well against the Liberty County Panthers recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Long County strolled past Liberty County with points to spare, taking the game 36-22. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Long County.
Ahmari Douglas had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Douglas really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Cortney Charles also helped out as he racked up 122 rushing yards.
Liberty County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Ron Golden, who gained 100 total yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 37 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hurd, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Long County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Liberty County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Long County will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvary Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Day will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Liberty County, they will head out on the road to face off against Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beach is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
