The Whitehorse Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Monument Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Whitehorse is ranked 123rd, while Monument Valley is ranked 137th).
Whitehorse pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 78-58 defeat to Green River might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Whitehorse has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Lyric Phillips put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points. That was a full 48.3% of Whitehorse's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Joe, who scored nine points.
Monument Valley posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 71-49 margin over Red Mesa. The score was close at the half, but Monument Valley pulled away in the second half with 44 points.
Monument Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxton Goodshield out in front who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goodshield has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Hicks, who scored 20 points.
Whitehorse has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Monument Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
Whitehorse didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Monument Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitehorse since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
