Basketball Recap: Henry Peprah's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Piedmont Community Charter over Bessemer City

Piedmont Community Charter was the 82-73 winner over Bessemer City when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots fell to the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets 81-77. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Piedmont Community Charter lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Henry Peprah, who went 9 of 15 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of John Carmichael, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Piedmont Community Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bessemer City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Guyton, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with six assists and six boards. Guyton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. Jonathan Black was another key player, going 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points.

Piedmont Community Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bessemer City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Piedmont Community Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-55 loss against Bradford Prep on the 19th.
