Baseball Recap: Wayne County Wins Going Away Against Perry County

After only one run in their last contest, Wayne County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Perry County on Saturday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-6 win. Considering the Wildcats have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Wayne County got a massive performance out of Peyton Dixon, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Dixon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Bevis, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

Wayne County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wayne County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Perry County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Wayne County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-3 defeat against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central on the 10th. Perry County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
