The Vashon Island Pirates fell victim to the Cascade Christian Cougars''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Cougars on the road and fell 62-0. While losing is never fun, Vashon Island can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Cascade Christian is ranked 97th).
Jackson Almond had an outrageously good game for Cascade Christian as he threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Almond's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Byson Vasquez was in the mix as well, providing Cascade Christian with two touchdowns.
Cascade Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Brian Rivera and his three sacks.
Vashon Island's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Cascade Christian, the win was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Vashon Island will be playing in front of their home fans against Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cascade Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Omak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Omak is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
