The Desert Pines Jaguars posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over Silverado. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Desert Pines got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Prince Davis out in front who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Damonte Duhart, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Silverado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cyril Franklin. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Franklin is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Travaughn Brigance, who scored ten points.
Desert Pines is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. As for Silverado, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Desert Pines' road trip will continue as they head out to face Legacy at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Legacy is ranked 17th, while Desert Pines is ranked 29th). As for Silverado, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
