Orange had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the West Geauga Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 on Thursday.
Orange saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
As for West Geauga, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.
On West Geauga's side, Gabby Donofrio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Donofrio has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Faelynn Beckrest was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Gambatese, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Coming up, Orange is taking a road trip to square off against Chagrin Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for West Geauga, they will head out to take on Jefferson Area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
